Eco Corner

We aspire to make a difference in our own community. When we decided to move into a new office, we looked for a location where we could make an impact on the neighborhood we moved into. Luckily, we found the perfect spot on the corner of 58th and Lorian on Cleveland's west side. Situated next to the Eco Village Townhomes, the property location is ideal-across from the Michael Zone Recreation Center and near the "green" RTA station at 61st and Madison.
The buildings are dated to the 1870's and 1880's or perhaps even earlier. They have had a variety of uses over their colorful history. Currently the dilapidated buildings stand silent. We have begun to remove the debris and are in the planning stages of the refurbishment.
Current renovation plans include the restoration of the building masonry and roof. New double pane wood frame windows are to be installed. The store front will be rehabbed to historically appropriate designs. We plan to install solar panels to generate all the necessary electricity on site. We will manage our stormwater runoff through the installation of retention systems and rain gardens.

The main building will feature our offices and an open plan conference room. We plan to further utilize the space by hosting art shows and showings of local area artists. We will host educational events and community meetings as well.

The eastern building will be lease space. We plan to attract a retailer who specializes in sustainable products to occupy the 750 square foot storefront. Upstairs will be leased office space. The space is 5 rooms and amounts to approxamately 950 square feet.

The rear portion of the property will undergo a huge makeover. We will be removing a garage that is in failing condition. The entirety of the back portion of the property will become an educational green space. In addition to native plantings and permeable pavers, there will be informational signage to educate the public about sustainable landscaping techniques. Additionally, a 550 square foot cottage building will be converted into an educational space. It will feature exhibits about sustainable practices in building, water and energy conservation, and recycling.

The Eco Corner will serve as the anchor of what we hope will be a new Eco District, extending the Eco Village neighborhood along Lorain.
